Seeing those pictures of the Beethoven manuscript made shivers go up and down *my* spine. How wonderful for you to be able to see it "up close and personal." I've been in Beethoven's house in Bonn, Germany and loved soaking up the little bit of atmosphere that was still there from when he lived there. I also went to the monastery near Vienna where he wrote his "Heiligen-Stadt Testament" to his brother when his increasing deafness became a certainty. I can't remember if they had any manuscripts there or not (either places) but they may have. I've still got some slides I took there. I wish I had them as digital pictures and I'd send you some to go with the pictures of the "Grosse Fuge". He was truly remarkable. The book I mentioned on the contest page is awesome. I'm sure you'd enjoy it.
