Biography

"I was trained as a poet, but from the day my grandmother gave me my first Georgette Heyer novel I wanted to write romance."

Nancy Herkness realized that long-held ambition with her debut novel A Bridge to Love, published by Berkley Sensation in August 2003.

Nancy was born and raised in the mountains of West Virginia. A graduate of Princeton University, she majored in English. In addition to her academic work in literature, she was accepted into Princeton's Creative Writing Program, and her senior thesis was a volume of original poetry.

Working first in retailing and then in data processing, Nancy finally took the plunge: she quit her job and composed a romance novel. She put her literary career on hold when her first child was born. Once her youngest child was settled in first grade, Nancy returned to the word processor and wrote A Bridge to Love.

Chosen as one of three "Best Up and Coming Authors" for 2003 in Affaire de Coeur's Readers' Poll, Nancy is the winner of the Golden Leaf and Aspen Gold awards for excellence in published romance. A member of Romance Writers of America, New Jersey Romance Writers, and Novelists, Inc., she also writes book reviews, press releases and newsletters. She lives in suburban New Jersey with her husband, two children and a golden retriever.
